What is the Difference Between Most Large, National Banks and Community Banks?
CBC Banks don't dabble in world money markets, or speculate on high-risk bonds. Community banks fill portfolios with lower-risk municipal and state bonds or U.S. Treasury obligations.
Most CBC banks are more heavily capitalized than the large banks.

CBC Banks Form a Foundation of Economic Support for California Communities
Community Bankers of California (CBC) is a nonprofit, voluntary association of California community banks and companies that serve the sector. Our mission is to advance community banking in California, providing a forum for the state's community bankers through peer involvement and information exchange.

CBC Banks Subscribe to Safe, Sound Banking Practices
They don't dabble in world money markets, or speculate on high-risk bonds. Community banks fill portfolios with lower-risk municipal and state bonds or U.S. Treasury obligations. Most CBC banks are more heavily capitalized than the large banks. We believe our competitive rates, backed by sound management and conservative investment policies, all work for you and your financial security.

Community Banks Combine Stability with Innovation and Technological Development
Community banks may be old-fashioned in their insistence to adhere to sound banking practices, but they are very modern in providing competitive banking conveniences, services, and efficient management. In fact, many have been providing outstanding service much longer than major banks. Many of our member banks have distinguished records of community service dating back to the early 1900's.

Community Banks are Partners in Community Prosperity
A Community bank functions as part of a classic economic system, where dollars that are channeled through the local bank end up going back into the community. this generates community prosperity, which funnels dollars back through the bank to continue the cycle.

Happiness is a Local Resource

In the aggregate, they form a bedrock of support for California's economic vitality. Nationwide, more than 8,000 community banks form a stable underpinning for the U.S. economy.
